The battle is joined

My last blog here is from February, and tells of my rough day at the legislature testifying on a bill which should not have passed. I have no excuse, other than just being very busy, for not posting more recently. And I won't make this long because I have to go to the airport soon to pick up a friend. But I will announce that I filed a legal action yesterday to invalidate the law that was passed by the legislature after my testimony. The objections to the bill were solid, and it would have been great if someone had given me the courtesy of really listening to what I said, and reading the material I brought along. Now I can be pretty sure that the Federal Judge will read the stuff. And this should have been avoided. The Utah legislature often (but not always) tends to be deaf and blind when the question of morality comes up. It would be better for everyone if they just used some common sense.
Keep an eye on the news, as this should be mentioned soon. As always, I have fun when I have an opportunity to fight the man.
And, BTW, I have started rebuilding my website to run for Utah Attorney General in 2012. It is not too soon to consider a small contribution. I saved my party's ballot position last year by barely polling enough votes for Governor. But that is just no my thing. Running for Attorney General gives me the chance to be heard on the issues of personal freedom that are really of significance to me
I read this morning an article in Esquire magazine about a man who was imprisoned for over 20 years for a rape that he did not commit. This next week, another man, also imprisoned for many years for a crime he did not commit, will be the mains speaker at the Utah ACLU dinner. I wish these were isolated incidents. I have been representing a man who was imprisoned for over 4 years for a robbery he did not commit. And the State is fighting tooth and nail to deprive him of his rightful compensation. I am getting old, and I cannot keep up the fight forever; but there is so much oppression in the name of "safety". Join me today in the fight for freedom. "You have nothing to lose but your chains.
