New Year, same old . . .
January 25, 2011
Woke up this morning thinking that I was long past due to make an addition to my blog. What really got me started, however, was a note from a friend about the Utah bloghive:
From the website of Utah Law Enforcement Legislative Committee:
Gateway to local party, pundit and politician blogs: Utah Bloghive Here you will find access to a potpourri of blogs, including Green Jello, Simple Utah Mormon Politics, Andy McCullough (the guy with an office in the attic of Dr. John's lingerie and toy shop), LIberal Utah, Utah Hornet's Nest, Saintless and Big Rock Candy Mountain. There are over 100 blogs devoted to Utah Politics and most are linked here.
Don't know whether to be flattered by the attention, or pissed off at the apparent slur to my character. Yes, my office, which is upstairs from a lingerie store -- but is really quite spacious and nice, has long gotten chuckles. This is perhaps a little more than a chuckle. Oh well. It is near a TRAX stop, has 24 hour security, and the rent is most reasonable.
Anyway, lots more going on. The Libertarian Party maintained ballot access by 60 votes. So, we will be accepting your $2 contributions through your Utah Income Tax returns. Look for the box in the upper right corner, and put the letter "L" there to help the party grow. If you want to be involved, see our website to pay your dues and come out to our events.
Many liberty lovers think that the new Republican majority in Congress is an improvement. While they may cut spending in some areas, they will increase it for "security" (to spy on us and tell us how to live). This is not an improvement. So, we are still working to get out an alternative message of both fiscal conservatism and social acceptance and freedom. We already have several people planning to run for office in Utah in 2012. Last year we provided the only alternative to Republicans for several big races. Join us as we grow. I may well find it irresistible to run again for Attorney General, and many are urging me to do so. Stay in touch and find out more.
I intend to continue posting this blog, and commenting on Utah and national politics and issues of freedom. And, if I irritate "law enforcement" enough to make them notice me and make sly comments about my character, I will consider that a mark of success. Let's get together and rock the boat a bit. It will be fun.
